Five Minute Friday- Haven- Resting in My Haven

Here is to another week of Five Minute Friday. The word is "haven".

In the month of May, my husband started a new job where the store has not been built yet. He has to commute a hour and half everyday at 4 in the morning to go to the store of where he is training at. The first 2 weeks he came home and was exhausted and withdrew from my little one and I. I took it hard because even though I know he didn't mean to be that way, he was putting a lot of pressure on me to do a lot of things by myself. It was affecting my attitude and thought life. And in return my relationship with him and our little girl.

I knew this was wrong and I had to change my attitude. It was hard because of all the anxiety and fear I was having about this time of transition. But as James 4:8a says

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you..."

So I found some verses pertaining  to anxiety and fear of the unknown and drew near to Him. And you know what? He became my haven. He became my resting place. Every time I had thoughts I went to my haven. Every time I felt frustrated, I went to my haven.

You know what happen? Even though my husband is still tired, his attitude has also changed because he saw a change me in me because I chose to rest in my Haven instead of how the situation made me feel.

What an awesome God!

  1. Love the way you developed this, Kristina! We can't change others' attitudes...but if we allow God to work through us, anything's possible.

  3. Yes, and Amen! Isn't that amazing how God can change our attitudes when we spend time with our Haven? And not only that, He changes others through us and that time spent with Him! Love it. Great reminder for me today. Following you a FMF.

    1. To be honest I did not even think about how my husband was going to respond. But God is faithful and He blessed me and I am so thankful. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Yes this is exactly what my prayer has been. It is so hard sometimes because you go into marriage having these expectations but then you realize that you need to trust God's expectations. His way is perfect and I want to be content in that. Still got a long journey ahead as I know everyone does. thank you for your insight on this.

  5. I had to go to a three-hour training at work yesterday on how to deal with difficult and aggressive people. One of the points stressed was that we can't control anyone but ourselves. And then I come here and read this and know again that I must lay down my attempt to control the reaction of any person and the outcome of any situation. Thank you, Kristina!

  6. Kristina, what a great testimony of how God can be our haven! He can completely change our attitudes. It's interesting how when our attitudes change the whole atmosphere around us can change too. :) Thanks for sharing your story. Thanks also for visiting my blog today! Blessings!

  7. Drawing near to God with the ache of our heart is the place in which God transforms us.
